Appalachian Trail trip
to Round Head
in Berks County, PA
The tent I used is a light weight 2 man tent that allows mew to sit upright in comfort.
I worked 8 station in 1 hour and 15 minutes. I was on a roll and it made me forget about the weather outside.
I used a SW-40+ running 1.5 watts out into a 40 meter light weight dipole cut for 7.040 MHz. with a SWR of 1 to 1 at this frequency. I was using 20 feet of RG-8X coax to feed the dipole. The antenna was only 10 feet off the ground pointed in a North/South direction. I brought my Oak Hills Research WM-2 meter to check the power. I was using my Poqet PC for logging and keying the radio. The battery was solar charged.
The Ninja QRP Operator on the AT in December 2000
I took this picture by accident, I hit the flash button. When I looked at the picture in the LCD screen I seen that the Ninja QRP Operator jumped in and out of the tent in a flash. Never really did see him, just showed up in the frame like a ghost.
Can't wait until January 2001 for my next trip!
