EPA QRP Field Day 2007
with the
EPA QRP Club Meeting &
3rd Annual Cookout!
French Creek State
Park is located
southeast of Reading in Berks County. We have group sites 8, 9 & 10 in the
primitive organized group tenting area reserved for Friday and Saturday nights.
Click on the Park link, the
red X
is sites 8, 9 and 10. The EPA QRP club will cover the cost of organized group
tenting sites 8, 9 and 10.
Each site holds up to 30 people. Members and guest are welcome to bring their
tents and camp Friday and Saturday nights. The site has tall trees and works
well for putting up wire antennas. There is plenty of room for pitching tents
and to set up operating stations. There is no electricity at the site, so bring
your batteries and solar panels. Water is located just down the hill. It is a
well where we can fill up 5-gallon jugs and drive them back up to
the camp site. A "rustic" potty is located near the three sites. Alcoholic
beverages and pets are prohibited at group campsites.
Members bringing their family for the weekend may wish to consider their "own"
modern campsite with electricity, running water and showers close by. Boone
trail connects the organized group tenting area with the regular camp grounds
near Loop C. If you wish your own personal camp site, you will need to make a
reservation by calling the 1-888-PA-PARKS (1-888-727-2757). You can find more
information about a fishing, boating and other activities on the French Creek
