Started in hobby as SWL at very tender age, recall clearly broadcasts on
SW during W.W.II, my grandfather had all wave radio and was avid SWL. that was well
over 50 years ago. Was bitten by the ham bug in mid 50's and was issued WN3AZR,
later W3AZR, as I traveled in my work, the call changed several times held K2HYA, K0SPB,
W9MHR, and back to W3AZR, got tired of that call and requested N3IKE when FCC allowed
extra's to request own call back in 70's, I got N3IK and have held that call since.
My work was mainly aerospace and built some pretty interesting gear for the early
manned flights, including telemetry for John Glen.
Moved back to PA in 74 and been in state since. Presently live near Allentown.
Active QRPer for long time, joined QRP ARCI in 60's and was issued number 78, however when
club became active again in early 80's was issued #504 which I still hold. Enjoy QRP
work a lot, and am 99% under 5 watt, presently working for DXCC with one watt on SSB using
wire antenna's.
Age is 61 (gonna retire next year), have 7 kids, with 3 at home (3 boys age 15, 12 and 2)
other kids from 41 to 33, nine grand kids.
I write "ON THE HAM BANDS" for MONITORING TIMES magazine, been with them almost
from the beginning. And I have a small antenna business THE ANT FARM which has been
in business since 81.
There's more of course, but how much can one take? hi
