Bill Boose, N3WST, history in ham radio:
First licensed in 1963 as novice, KN3FCI, didn't get general by end of
year, so became WA3CUD when I did get it.
Let license expire while in college--had sold equipment and wasn't active.
Renewed interest in 1996, re-took test and got General again, N3WST
Interests are QRP & Mobile/ portable operation.
Ham radio led to Middle Creek Search & Rescue Team, of which I am now 1st
Asst. Chief ( taught one ham class for search team, and others, in 1997 )
Currently keep the check-in list updated for the EARS club repeater in
Ephrata ( 145.45 ) Wife joined Search Team and then got her Tech license to
help with Team N3YIW )
Station consists of Heathkit HW-8, MFJ-9420, Small Wonder Labs SW-30,
mobile 2M rigs in both cars, and Ht's
Antenna at home is 20/40 meter dipole. It also works on 30 and 80 with
tuner (homebrew). Antenna on motor home is Carolina Bugcatcher
Some of best work: Seychelles and Croatia on MFJ-9420 ( 10W SSB )
