TAC Contest 2000
Soap Box
Bands were in poor condition but I still had a ball. I was glad to make the 44 Q's and I am sorry for the few I could not pull out of the QRN. 72 Ron de N3EPA (WB3AAL)
Lots of QRN here. Where were all the PA stations hiding? I only worked nine "X" stations. Joel de K1QM
Lousy conditions in Central Texas, lots of QRN during the contest and deep QSB. Tried running 10 meters calling CQ for a while and also on 15 meters, not much luck except N3EPA on 15 meters. Where was everyone else? But it was still lots of fun to work some familiar calls. Thanks for another Great QRP contest. 73 es 72 David de N5IW
Thanks for a very interesting contest. The bands were a little rough but I managed a few QSO's. Rick de N8XI
Murphy slipped in at some point and did his thing to my tuner and feed line. Had about 20 less QSO's compared to an earlier TAC event. Ended up as a poor result. On the plus side, the weather was perfect at 856. Definitely had to be outside for the FB event. Not all enjoyed the WX but I hope all enjoyed the sprint. Now onto FD! 72 Ken de N2CQ
Very poor band conditions! Bob de N4BP
QRP TAC Contest was a blast on 3 June 00. I didn't make a lot of contacts due to poor conditions on 40 meters but the contacts I made where good quality QSO's. I operated a ARK-4 QRP kit that I built and modified to go from 0 to 4 watts with a POT, I used a WM-2 watt meter from Oak Hills Research and a home made wire dipole I strung between two trees up 35 feet. The battery pack lasted all day, at less than 2 watts output I am sure it would have made another day or two. Thanks again for the great contest. Hope to hear you all up in PA on the next one. Best of 73's Craig de AB8DY/QRPp
I heard N3EPA but I just could not work him. Brian de AC7AF
Bad day on the bands. Aron de N1ODL
Enjoyed working the TAC event QRP portable from Cedar Breaks National Monument, UT. Plan to operate QRP Field Day from this same 9,300 foot elevation point. 73 Jack de WA7LNW
I could only spend a little over an hour of operating the TAC contest, but it was lots of fun. PS My dipole antenna is in the attic, only 14 feet up! Thanks, Roy de N8RN
Used my FT-920 and long wire on 40 meters @ 4 watts. Got home from work at 3 PM, chopped up the storm damaged limbs in the front yard, and fired up onions and kielbasa on the grill with a six pack of beer . . . ran to the shack on and off to hand out a few QSO's. 72 Jim de KW3U
I always enjoy the TAC Contest. I hope it continues! 72 Ken de KA3WMJ
